With the arrival of spring, here’s a list of upcoming activities planned at The Growing Experience Urban Farm for March and April:
1) Grow LA Victory Garden Initiative. The Growing Experience will be hosting a 4-week workshop series on Saturdays starting April 14 throughMay 5, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Participants will become a Certified UC Victory Gardener through the Grow LA Victory Garden Initiative. Classes will be taught by 2 UC Master Gardeners in our classroom, with hands-on projects at the farm.
For more information, please take a look at the attached flyer. You can also contact Master Gardeners Roberta Kato (email@example.com) or Elizabeth Sala (firstname.lastname@example.org).
2) Volunteer Work Day on Saturday, March 31 from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. This is our Spring cleaning, with general landscape maintenance, sprucing up our overgrown native/drought-tolerant garden, preparing planting beds and sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, etc. We provide the tools, water, and light refreshments. Come meet others from the community and get your hands dirty!
3) 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. See our new Aquaponics demonstration project with tilapia and edible aquatic crops, taste the produce from our farm, learn about methods of sustainable urban agriculture, arts activities, and more.
